Sunshine Story: 2-year-old with a bloated tummy, sores on the cheeks & eczema

When our son Ossian was 2 years old, he started developing sores on his cheeks. His stomach was also very bloated, and it got to the point where the nursery staff had to put him to rest in a separate room because he was so gassy! Since I had eczema as a child myself, I quickly took action. I visited both a traditional doctor and my kinesiologist. She treated Ossian, and we discovered that he was sensitive/intolerant to oats, wheat, dairy products, eggs, tomatoes, and apples. (Eggs and oats were the hardest for us to eliminate). Ossian’s stomach immediately got better once we cut out these foods. In fact, it improved completely. But the sores on his cheeks remained. The GP couldn’t find any allergies and didn’t want to write a note for the nursery about his diet. However, because no one at the nursery could ignore Ossian's worsening gas, they allowed us to proceed. Creating something similar to porridge seemed like the easiest way to ensure Ossian got nutrition when there weren’t other options available. For example, when we were out and there was only bread, milk, and eggs to choose from. Since the sores on his cheeks persisted, my search continued.

I got a tip from Greatlife.se to mix Vegan Protein with Clear Response [Comment from Greatlife.se: Innate Response has stopped manufacturing Clear Response, so the recipe below has been modified] along with Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric with almond milk and hot water so it would be lukewarm and mix better. Ossian LOVES his porridge. He can’t start his day without it. It’s perfect to take on trips and outings. After about a year, the sores completely disappeared, and today, 3 years later, he can eat everything! Even eggs and wheat, though he shouldn’t have too much of them. The gas disappeared! The eczema disappeared! The intolerance disappeared! No more gas, and his skin is as smooth as can be. Not even the slightest bit dry. Ossian still drinks his porridge from a bottle. Since it’s good for him, he can continue as long as he wants. He’s now 5 and a half years old. /Paulina

Recipe (modified since Clear Response is no longer produced)
  • About 1 dl almond milk, homemade or organic and unsweetened
  • 3–4 tsp Vegan Protein Mix powder (Make the protein powder mix yourself by blending Vegan Protein with a bit of cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and sometimes a bit of clove to make a total of 3–4 tsp)
  • 1 scoop of Kids Daily Multi Booster
  • 1/2 scoop of C Complete Powder
  • About 1 dl lukewarm water
Mix or blend everything in a glass until the powder dissolves.
If more sweetness is needed, you can add extra C Complete Powder and/or a bit of cinnamon or a pinch of organic vanilla powder. You can also blend in an organic date for natural sweetness.
