A Sunshine Story: Choose Iron Response Instead of Niferex

We received a heartwarming story from one of our customers, which we were allowed to share:

I had a normal pregnancy with quite a lot of nausea and low iron levels. It came with extreme fatigue, and my midwife told me to take Niferex, which is an iron supplement. She mentioned that constipation was a common side effect, but I could barely swallow them before throwing up. My body absolutely refused to accept them. I have a sensitive digestive system and have had similar reactions to other supplements, so I wasn’t very surprised, but I was worried that my baby wouldn’t get what it needed. I was advised to try Innate Response, as it has high bioavailability, making it easier for the body to absorb and not requiring as high an iron content as Niferex. I also ordered Baby & Me because, due to the nausea, I wasn’t eating a very varied diet. My midwife was completely against the iron tablets from Innate Response, saying they contained too little iron to be effective. However, when I returned for my next visit, she was astonished. She said she had never seen anyone raise their iron levels so quickly in her 30 years as a midwife. But the best part was that, despite the pregnancy nausea, I could take them without feeling sick or having stomach pain. My midwife now recommends them to everyone who, for some reason, can’t handle Niferex!

During the birth, I lost a lot of blood and was on the verge of needing a blood transfusion. I had packed the iron tablets in my hospital bag, and I quickly got my iron levels back up even while in the hospital.

A few weeks after giving birth, the fatigue returned, and I went to the health centre to check my iron levels. They were good, and I was advised to rest and try to eat a varied diet. I was already resting a lot, as both my husband and I were home during the first few months. Then I remembered that I hadn’t taken Baby & Me since the birth, even though it’s recommended during breastfeeding as well. A week after I started taking them again, the fatigue began to lift. It’s easy to forget that your nutritional needs are greater both during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
