A Success Story: Overcoming Endometriosis Through Diet and Lifestyle Changes

After many years of undiagnosed endometriosis, I finally received the diagnosis I had always "known" through the birth of my son (via caesarean section) – namely, that I had endometriosis. For many years, I had been stumbling in the dark with heavy periods, pain and aching joints, painful bowel movements, etc. My whole body felt inflamed, and I regularly caught one cold after another. I had swollen and sore joints. I had very little trust in the healthcare system after seeking help within the public healthcare system for many years without receiving any help. I had also struggled with infertility for a couple of years and sought help through reproductive medicine – but even the specialist dismissed my thoughts of having endometriosis, as I wasn’t in enough pain during my periods. Unfortunately, many women with endo suffer from extremely severe menstrual pain (but not all, which are often misunderstood).

Through contact with various "endo sisters," I became aware of the importance of a functional diet. I cut out refined carbohydrates and drastically reduced dairy products, etc. I noticed a significant difference in my body, but not enough. I took private blood tests that showed signs of low-grade inflammation, a deficiency in vitamin D, and magnesium, so I also started taking these supplements, along with Omega 3. In addition, I received help from the public healthcare system in the form of a hormonal IUD, and now I am free from bleeding and feeling great. However, as soon as I neglect my supplements, I catch colds and feel much worse in my body! Now, I am fully aware of the importance of a nutritious diet, and I also give our long-awaited two children supplements to strengthen their nutrient absorption, and I would never want to give them synthetic supplements!
